Claim to Fame: This was very interesting. I asked a few people what
is John Davidson famous for and I got different answers. Some said as the host
of 'That's Incredible.' While another said he was a talk show host... then I got
he was an actor and finally a couple people asked, isn't he a game show host. So
this one is hard to pin down.
What exactly is John Davidson's claim to fame... he's multi-talented. And those
dimples!
Family Life: Rhonda Rivera (1983 - present) 1 daughter
Jackie Miller (1969 - 1982) (divorced) 2 children
Info:
As mentioned above, John is multi-talented. He has appeared on Broadway, in
movies, on TV and also famous for singing.
While an overly cute, lightweight image severely hampered his chances to be
taken seriously as a dramatic actor, he made great strides as a full-fledged TV
presence in the 70's. He earned his own daytime talk show "The John Davidson
Show" (1969) and appeared in such mini-movie offerings as 'Coffee, Tea or Me?'
with Karen Valentine.
He co-starred with Sally Field, in "The Girl with Something Extra" playing newlyweds,
but the sitcom was unsuccessful.
Through the lean years John always seemed to appear in episodes of "The Love
Boat" and "Fantasy Island."
Trivia: Music has always been John's first passion. In addition to recording
12 solo albums in both the pop and country music, he plays the guitar and banjo.
He was the scheduled headline act at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate,
Kentucky, the night the structure burned down, killing 165 persons, on May 28,
1977. He was not injured and later participated in a charity concert to raise
funds for the families of fire victims.
He allegedly memorized the entire New York phone book prior to appearing on
'That's Incredible.'
Where
is He Now:
In April 2006, he will be in Branson, MO and continue to appear until June.
I am planning a trip there and I think after doing this piece, I'll go to one of
his shows. He really seems like he puts on a good show!
Recently he appeared with one of his children, Ashleigh, in a 2005 musical
production of "Shenandoah."
